Set in the southwest of Corfu, Agios Georgios is blessed with one of the best beaches on the island.

There’s a good selection of tavernas and bars dotted along the road as well as supermarkets and gift shops. Agios Georgios is an ideal base for those who like walking and cycling. A short walk through the olive groves takes you to the quaint 10th century village of Argirades where life goes on as it has been for years. 

Also north of St George is Lake Korrision, a nature reserve great for bird watching. Agios Georgios really does have something for everyone.

Agios Georgios south has two long stretches of golden sand. One is backed by sandstone cliffs, the other with dunes.

Some watersports are available on these beaches. It is perfect for families and couples looking to spend happy, lazy days in the sun on the sands.

35 KILOMETERS SOUTH FROM CORFU TOWN, ST GEORGE IS POPULAR WITH BOTH TOURISTS AND LOCALS.

The resort has grown rapidly over the last few years, although it is still relatively small.   It spans two bays with golden sandy beaches in each, with a rocky outcrop and the harbour in between. ST GEORGE SOUTH has the right recipe for a successful holiday and there is something for everyone. Sun, sea and an abundance of fine, golden sand are the lingering ingredients of this resort. Miles of golden sand in each bay affords excellent scope for exploring - safe beaches for families with toddlers as they dip very gently in to the sea.

 

The northern end is where bars / restaurants / shops sit side by side, a main sandy beach, a couple of small (rocky) beaches and the harbour can be found.  Moving south 400-600 metres, things are much more spread out, with areas of open land between shops and restaurants - it is this area that contains the second beach, known as golden beach. Both beaches offer many of the usual "water sports", including Jet Ski's and pedalos.
Confusingly there are two holiday resorts in Corfu called Agios Georgios. One is on the north and the other on the south of the Island.
St. George - or Agios Georgios is a resort with a choice of excellent beaches, popular with couples and families wanting to avoid the bid crowds and traffic.
 
Ag. Georgios is on the south west coast, 33 km from Corfu town and Corfu airport. It is a small resort with no real traditional centre but offering a decent choice of tavernas and bars, a couple of discos , supermarkets, souvenir shops, water sports and of course beautiful long and wide sandy beach, well organized an considered to be one of the best in Corfu – awarded with blue flag – with a safety shallow for children, Sand dunes and a lake Korission add interest to the north beach at St. George and a little effort is rewarded with the discovery of isolated coves for more undistrurbed bathing. There are around 6 miles of beach in Agios Georgios including the busier south beach and the resort runs along a parallel road and is bordered by olive groves and cypress trees that benefit from the winter rains.
