you do not want to spend all day on the beach, there are plenty of beach side tavernas for you to enjoy. Serving everything from sandwiches to four course meals."
"Teddy & Bessies supermarket is good value & the owner very helpful if you need help or directions. Car hire is very reasonable & this is a good base from which to explore this truly beautiful island. The sunsets here are Breathtaking.”
There are enough restaurants and tavernas to eat somewhere different every night, some of them offering stunning views over the beaches. Evenings centre around the good selection of tavernas and bars that are dotted along the road running through the resort.
As night falls there is plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. You will not find any discos in St George although there are a few music bars, which offer the normal karaoke, pop quizzes etc and normally stay open till the last person leaves!
"During the evening the resort had plenty of restaurants along the waters edge for a quiet dinner or a couple of busier bars if preferred. We would definitely stay here again!”
“We stayed at the Dora Studios which was in a great location for bars, restaurants and the beach. The cost of food and drink was very cheap. “
“The resort of St. George South has a little of everything, to suit all ages and all tastes. The restaurants offer excellent value. I recommend the Balcony which offers a good selection Greek food”
St. George South has a wide range of restaurants and tavernas catering for all tastes. There is everything from fast foods to international cuisine and there are many tavernas serving traditional food. Being a small island, fish plays an important part in the diet and small fried fish, shellfish and kalimari are firm favourites. Lamb and chicken are used most commonly in meat dishes. Local wines are very pleasant and good value. Fast food stalls such as Souvlatzidiki sell takeaway souvlakis, a type of kebab. For a more substantial snack these are sometimes wrapped in pita bread and called gyros. Local wines are pleasing to both the palate and the pocket.
